Wicked, WICKED building! I would love to know some more about it. Is it some ones house? Anyhow name I can look up to find more out about this place?

It is at 1256 South Third Street, Louisville, KY, 40203. I’m sure it was originally a single-family dwelling, but like a lot of Old Louisville properties, it got split up into a multi-use building. To the best of my knowledge, there is currently an insurance company there and some apartments.

What a cool old house! I’ve always wanted to restore one. It would be neat to know the history behind it. Great photo as well!

Thanks, Chris! We’ve been restoring one (not this one!) since 2000. It’s fulfilling but can be exhausting at times. We feel more like custodians preserving these beautiful houses for a future generation than anything else.

Beautiful building, and wonderful mood in your shot, Richard.

Its always nice to see people dedicate their time to restore such beautiful buildings. I am often brought to tears when I see them demolished and abandoned. Lovely image.

Thanks, Melissa Ann! We are lucky to have so many people both now and in previous generations who have been willing to do the hard work of protecting these buildings, keeping them up and/or restoring them. My photographs so far just show the tip of the iceberg of what is here.
